where the wild flowers grow

Sweat
drips down your forehead.
You didn't have the time..
Your hands slipped from mine.
You feel smooth..
I could drink and sink
into you.
I wanted to meet a boy
just like Elvis..
            You just looked away
said nothing,
acted casual, and kept your shoes tied
all tight..You cut
off all circulation and you're not
so graceful as to even..
wash the blood from your hair,
the night enveloped me and
I watched my wounds howl deep into
shadows I'd never shined light on.
I heard you crying
      from behind the door..
The sweat
dripping down your forehead..
it wasn't even

        my fault.
