Dance My Children

Dance daisy chains of children
in fields outside of Haight

Dance my pretty children for
your reality awaits

Dance free today for your
destiny has not been seen.

So, dance my pretty children
in psychedelic field of green

Dance my pretty children
as Jimi’s flaming Fender play
A soulful song of Mary among
fields of straw and hay

And dance as Janice prays
for her Mercedes Benz
Then sings of a broken heart
to all her pretty friends

Dance among the wildflowers
Skip in lemon yellow sun
For eve’s tangerine sky
May yet melt everyone

Dance my pretty children
Speak while you are young
Reality’s ‘round the corner
to bind freedom’s tongue

Meditate my young ones
on our country’s plight
Lil' boys being slaughtered
in fields where they fight

Then weep my children
for our savior is dead
Some assassin’s bullet
put a hole in his head

Now dance my pretty children
in fields outside of Haight

Yes, dance my pretty children
for it’s 1968

Then sing your song free,
flowers in your hair

Dance my pretty children for
you haven’t got a care

Ohmygosh!!  This is SO beautiful!!
..as I was reading..I could hear strains of 'strawberry fields forever' playing in my mind.
This is an amazing write...I have goosebumps!

Credence Clearwater Revival...The Grateful
Dead....and others...all part of the times
when war was war and peace was love...

Brings back a few memories...  Thanx Patricia,  excellent vision of a past that
I won't soon forget...being a warrior then.

Loved this bit of de ja vu Patricia.

Youth is but a fleeting moment in time. Sadly....no one could have told us then what we know now.

Oh Patricia, I'm dancing and singing to your words that have transported me back in time. And my friend, what a momentous time it was and will never be again.

A pure delight and it's a keeper ...

Hugs to you dear lady ... Marti

An exceptionally fine write, Dear Patricia! You captured the hearts and imaginations of your readers. Your writing really appeals to me on so many levels. The ease of the read with the wonderfully lyrical rhythms, the descriptive imagery, the messages inherent in them, and the touches of heart and soul. You are a fine poetess!

Loves 'n hugs,
Linda

the words show the reader a perfect vision...

Patricia:

I bow to you humbly . . .
How I missed this write
I have NO idea
Ahhh to have seen Janis
and Jimi
(look where I live)
and I always wanted my picture
taken on the corner
of Haight-Ashbury.
I always tell my mom I should
have been a Woodstock baby.
I have this sick fascination
with the sixties and Vietnam.

I loved this
Beautiful job Patricia
just amazing
