Discount Smiles

It was late at night and pouring down
when decided I, to cross the town
go shopping at the Walmart store
to feel some warmth of light indoor.

So off I went, parked in the lot
with rain soaked list, now smeared ink blot
ran into door to ward off chill
and walked the aisles, my thoughts to fill.

When there I saw the many more
of single men (at least in store).
And I of course, looked then my best
my hair in curls from damp's ingest.

Sometimes the child in me, possessed
granted smiles to wink's suggest
of those who stopped with greetings warm.
And I, this night in better form

Enjoyed the rising feel of blush
and hurried not, was in no rush
as I took in the faces new
forgetting to pick up shampoo.

Who cares said I, in check out line,
more than I bought, were thoughts of mine.
I won't discount those many smiles
that adorn those faces in the aisles.

Tonight when dark descends on me
maybe I will again, you see
go walking down the Walmart aisles
and catch myself some discount miles

To make me feel, if only when
those smiles are real, to share again.

M

When all else fails you go for the gusto and type it out like no other.  Don't you love making eye contact...sometimes cheap thrills are all that's left.  Now then, head on back and pick up your shampoo, you never know who might be looking for you.  I hope you're having a good hair day.      Hugs Maur~

You can never have much of a good hair day in all this humidity and rain...although I do see the sun peeking out and..in the next few days we are to have summer temps..high 80's to low 90's finally!!!!

thanks and hugs

Maureen, there are a lot of friendly
shoppers at our local WalMarts, isn't
there? I love that Super Center of
ours.....you can find anything there. LOL
I loved the smiles you brought to my face.
Thank you.

I like the smiles I get at the library, and Safeway and Ala Moana Mall...

I thought this one had slipped away Vicky, but I see you went hunting today  *s
thanks

M

Ethel, I am glad you enjoyed, James too. When I am feeling down I go to the mall or stores and I make friends very easily...so it makes time pass when I am feeling lonely.

And Dixie, I happen to like Walmart...and I never gave it a thought that one of those nice faces may be a watchful worker...I just enjoyed the smiles and view.

hugs
M
