A fortnight since the first messenger rode into
the darkness as fires of foes dotted a countryside.
Battle weary though not humbled...a
king's mind briefly wanders along a trail to a
castle far away.  For distance, cruel to the
anxious heart brings not joy to his mind, only
concern and fear.  Hath not the woman’s ears heard
the cry of this man’s heart?

My love, my love, my chosen one
I fear my love, my lady fair.
My heart does cry, in waning sun
I pray my love, to see you there

Lo, frantic fear of death of Kings
harsh the sharpness of its sting
a daughter suffers all the slings
          that time and tribulations bring

her soul adrift, to search and find
the love that stays her heart and mind
could he but know the grief she feels
yet love for him, nay, not revealed

for arrows of her own King's men
would find his heart and wound, broken
from love she has for two Kings, true
and death of both is what she rues

Hath thee not felt the flowing wind,
the waking stir at break of morn?
Or accursed bow's curved slaying bend
as arrows seek the heart whence torn.

Would he not hearken her song so light
for all she knows is held in men
as warriors both would stand to fight
be it her love, or be it her kin

On winding trail in darkness ride
a knave shall bring to thee my word.
Decreed to all, the Crier cried
his vow to win, was this they heard.

A driven mare and young lad seen,
as arrow flies through air so blue
so red this blood upon King's green
a haunting cry tells of untruths

Of woman spoke in solemn deed
upon the stones of bulwark cold.
A king betrayed vows to succeed
amongst the brave, the battered bold.

And as the fires do wane and die
upon the crested grassy knoll
a warrior sworn to truth, not lie
plots now a plan...so cunning, bold.

Magnus, Sire...
this has been most pleasurable.
I shall post the third part,

Oh, my goodness...I am loving this...I read the second time out loud and was just breathless.  OK, let me find Part III.
You got me on the edge of my seat now, you two.
