Flowers of Love

Sometimes love is like a rose,
blooming by the consort of the gardener
and tended, fostered, kept from harm;
and that is not our love.

Sometimes love can be an orchid
raging wetsweet in the fertile rain
of time and lust and easy hours;
and that is not our love.

But love is also this, a cactus flower
born of sparseness, gathering what it can
and blooming where and when it may,
the sweeter for the scarcity;
this flower, this love, is ours.

the sweeter for the scarcity;
==========================

How cool is that line and intend.
Wonderful mix of imagery and analogy
as well as devotion.
Lovely garden of your heart poet sir

No matter what the differences
No matter what the cost
When words become our weapons ...
All that's beautiful is lost.

born of sparseness, gathering what it can
and blooming where and when it may,
the sweeter for the scarcity;
this flower, this love, is ours.

And all the more cherished for its rarity... existing in spite of, not because. *S*

So much tenderness and love written here... so beautifully. *S*

Your love poems are so tenderly written.  I can feel the ache of this as well as the sweetness.

This went right into my heart and even caused a tear .... for I can so relate

But love is also this, a cactus flower
born of sparseness, gathering what it can
and blooming where and when it may,
the sweeter for the scarcity;
this flower, this love, is ours.
