Neverlove of fingers splayed
and just a stray
of pinkie black
intensity
of down the scale
as if fingers
comin' back--
won't be there at all--
and hammer just a lone shark note
lingering from bottom lip
stuck there with the superglue
drooling heaven's
used-to-be
as if I were not here at all...

This--it is--it is, y'dig?
the moment captured
that I live--
practice scales
and hammer flats--
and sing to me my scrambled eggs.

And?

I take my coffee black.

Made me smile!

oh...fresh ground with green cardamom, black; when I am feeling indulgent I use a little vanilla sugar.

...a little sugar is always nice...

I don't drink coffee, but "sing to me my scrambled eggs" grabbed me.

Very nice.

smiling--um...another memory of mine. (I try to write them down before I lose them again-- )

Just a little piece about a little Jazz club called "Snaps" that I used to stumble into to eat breakfast--all moldy brick and smoke, but the music and food were GREAT...

Thanks for reading. I just wanted to show ya'll the place.

It was actually the last stop before I crept to the crypt--AND? I never actually ordered scrambled eggs, always the egg white omelet--the scrambled eggs was a reference to a song the band would sing to me, as they said I had a brain the quality of such.

This sounds like a groovy(I just dated myself with that word) little place we have in our town called The Blackwater Cafe'....my brother-in-law plays and sings blues there....small world isn't it?
Love this Karen. Chris

How many visions
do you play
where be fingers
curled, or splayed
dipping in the ebony
or nails of red
on ivory

you brought back
love's symphony
and a tear
at love flung
free....

thanks, hon...I needed this.

Thanks for sharing this little trip down memory lane, Karen.
I enjoyed visiting your old stomping grounds.

I can almost hear this one done in a Jazz mode, and I love it!!!!  I'm another player who has spent many a long night filling up my cup while banging out a new tune!!  Great work here!!  ~V~

P.S....the reference to scrambled eggs reminded me of the theme song to Frasier...another jazzy number!

VOE? Don't tell the guys, but I actually like that song better. The one they played was an instrumental improv, generally heavy on the bass line.

*snaps* to all for reading.
