The Dance

In solitude she dropped from sky
Searching for her playful guest
-- Then she heard his longing sigh
And felt his breath upon her breast ---

He swept her in his slight embrace
And softly whispered in her ear:
"Let's dance until in sunlight's rays
The night will slowly disappear..."

As tango dancers without course
Their roving steps the meadows combed.
She yielding to his gentlest force
-- In ethereal bond they roamed...

Through darkness of the stormy night
Continued on their teasing game ---
From rolling field, in wild delight,
To deepest grove they took their aim.

But at break of dawn of dance he tired
And relinquished surging rush.
-- Then as one whose breath expired --
He turned and vanished suddenly ---

Their embrace so sharply broken,
She clinged alone to earthy bed;
Silver tears the Earth had soaken
-- Then silently to Him she said:

"When Heavens don a sable crest
-- Together we shall dance again ---"
On airy chariot the longing Wind
-- And in his thrall -- the faithful Rain...

Thank you so much.

I love the dynamics of a storm. Perhaps it goes with my often-times brooding, melancholic disposition.

Dance in a rain -- anyone?

Just beautiful, reads like a fairytale come true.

Such pretty pictures you've painted, thanks.

Your pen name suits you well.

CastleGuard....So many great love stories end this way..there is something about the ache of seperation that makes it more poignant then happily ever after.  Enjoyed!
