Spent

It's there beneath,
all those aches, a current
spreading across, a restlessness
surrendering.

"Nobody's perfect,"
I hear throughout the non completion
days that remain after and continue into
each next to come.

The compilation hoards me
into a heap of aged thoughts,
another year to lump with the others,
another stack of "what ifs"
and "what mays" piling higher,
forming that mound that
must be climbed, with anxiety's sweat
forming droplets from my laboring mind.

I fret more over the moisture
that some would say "glows on me"
and wonder if the menopausal moments
will ever cease as an excuse used,
when life exerts too much pressure on me.

Just yesterday, I heard from one so close to me,
that in another year, I will be able
to claim the right of Senior Citizen
and rank with the others who receive a discount
on their living.

There was a time once, when I wished
that would happen, but now,
as the time will soon allow, I wish that
I could be suspended and held
into ageless moments, spent with you.

you know...I have to say I like this a great deal..it reads of honesty and of evaluation..and of the awakening of a desire...

very nicely done... very nice indeed.

Hi Ron, well I spent yesterday with my mother who is visiting all of us for a month. Her birthday was yesterday, mine soon enough to come and we went out to lunch.

Funny how numbers can make or break a day.

Thanks, I have to learn that they are only numbers after all, and we are only as old as we allow ourselves to feel.
