Faintly tapping on oaken door
a lady comes the night.
In want a knight in nights explore
beneath the moon’s soft light.

A gown of gold and glinting bead
upon the bosom’s rest.
A hurried ride on lathered steed
a maiden royally dressed.

A month in wait to feel the heat
of passion’s flaming fire.
As two now join as one complete
their longing lost desire.

Sweet grapes were shared so daintily
and laughter filled the air.
They rested till their energies
returned in lust filled flair.

As candles glowed against the stone
of walls beyond the lie.
Two lovers soared in passion flown
beyond the moon filled sky.

And as the night did raise the dawn
of morn upon their rest.
A woman rides the green of lawn
returning from her quest.

A kiss was left upon the door
of oaken hue and steel.
To bring to dreams a nightly soar
of passionate reveal.

And there a knight does smiling lay
into the morning's rise.
Still dreaming of a sensual sway
and lust filled green of eyes.

Barry - what a great write. I liked the flow of this and all that it said. But Barry, my eyes are blue. A smoochie eh?, hehehe. Barry, you're the best...

I loved it. My school`s English Academic Bowl (I was in) just got done reading literature from midevil times..This very much reminded me of the story of Guenivere and Sir Lancelot... I wish I could`ve read this instead of some of the very boring things we had to read...Don`t read "The Mother Tongue"....Just a bit of info for you. But anyway..This poem was amazing and I can`t wait to see more of your work.

Oh goodness....my Honey-Love and I love grapes....and he also loves my green eyes, too. LOL

A very good, romantic write, Barry.

OK, you would think after my meltdown over CPAT's verse today, I would know better than to continue reading romance...but you know, Barry, I can't resist when I see your name.

Just beautiful...

Barry...I like the old-world feel of this. Transports me to a time when knights slew dragons and jousted to win the hand of a maiden fair. Great poem!! ***Ivy Rose
