The dust from hooves
Coated white robes with grey
And as if ghosts
With only eyes uncovered
We swayed in rhythm
To the placing of splayed toes
And gait designed to endure
In this harsh clime.

Your eyes grew heavy
As the heat grew,
So I sat you in front of me
And balanced one arm
Around your waist
That you might not fall.

Your lips were hidden
But I saw the smile in iris
And felt as if I were indeed a man
Of great wealth and power
To have such jewels sparkle
Only for me.

Modesty
Prevented us from more
Than the close ride that day,
But when darkness fell
And those who attended
The animals we depended on
Were off to their own tents
We spared enough water
To in turn rinse each other
Of the day
So in time we did not appear
To be specters from some
Long aged tomb
But human

You braided your hair
And pale shoulders called
My lips again to taste of your sigh
As we lay on the same silk weave
That was sought many months ago
When this trip began
And we knew the only comfort
We could take was this
A rug to share
For sleep and softness

Your legs had grown brown
From the sun
And I explored the lines of contrast
That would fade as we returned
To the town and left these long days
Of desert to again live inside
The thick walls of home.

I know those lines now
Will never fade from my mind
For I have traced them with lips
And eyes on the skin of my memory.

Tell me love
Do you still remember
Then and the routes we traveled
along the edges of ecstasy?

Come...
let me trace for you

Beautiful!
Quite exotic, sensual, with a hint of Shalimar in the air.
*Sorry..I added the scent that came to mind*
You take us places Captain..places our mind wants to play and wander...
Think I'll just drift this afternoon.

uhhh....  Okee dokee....I went on that ride,
went and took my cold rinse off...and now
I am back...  Wishing I had written this
piece....Now...I am gonna have to really
scrape something together...and I have to
watch closely or the Mods will jerk it for
the flames that will be causing all of the
sprinklers to go off in PiP....

(Sending the Fire Inspector...to check the
fire alarm system....I think it is not
working properly)... Magnus exits,  grumbling....

Hey Ron, are you handing out spare sheets of your custom made tracing paper yet?
LOL, this post is worth several readings,
not to mention droolings.

Rumor has it Rumi is grinning with each read.
