To become the Queen of Rock in my household, which means I will have to outplay my kids on Guitar Hero. Star Power!

and I finally bought a canvas and all the "beginner" supplies for painting, so I'm gonna give that a whirl.

other than those things? "It's the same old story, same old Song and Dance, my friend." (Aerosmith)

and I'm mighty fine with that.

I'd like to quit smoking cigarettes.

I have little to no faith that I will though.

Hardly resolute.

sigh

Dear SB, are you truly a smoker? now, that is worse than the canned laughter.

I have smoked 4 cigarettes in my life. Two for trying to see if I could get addicted to it and to feel the difficulty of quiting smoke. I did felt the craving of it. (how our own  brain tricks us!!!!)
The third one was when I was upset by my boss 14 years and a friendly colleague  was a smoker.  the fourth one was again when I was upset by my boss(different one) two years ago and a good friendly colleague was a smoker.

All four were borrowed.

smoke less and talk more, my dear lady. I want you to be healthy and happy esp in New Year.

Sometimes resolution comes only when you're really desperate.  That's human nature.

Lose a few lbs.
Play my guitar more
Be a better Husband and Father.

Not necessarily in order of importance.

Less Calories, More excercise
More scales and arpeggios, less naps
More of them and less of me ... therefore more of me.
And prayer most of all.

I could go into much more detail, but that's it in a nutshell.

This year I've resolved to clean up my room.  Let's see, I've still got 360 days to go, so I'm not feeling any pressure.

Why do people need to wait until New Years to decide to do something that they believe they should already be doing?

Its probably natural to think of a New Year in terms of renewing commitments or goals, since it is a long enough interval to allow for notable progress, and short enough for the missed goals of last year not to be entirely disheartening.

Stephanos,

Then it is for the weak of mind or for those who really just need a reason to plan on accomplishing something that they know they never will.

That may be true of most resolutions, Mike, but not necessarily all.  Weakness of mind may be present with or without resolutions.

You've got a point though, that we shouldn't wait until the New Year to resolve to make improvements.
