The top of the bottom or the bottom of the top?

Think about that one for a minute......

I think that so far, it's too vague to discuss.  Directional or relative terms don't help without some content.  It's like asking "Would you rather be on the edge or in the middle?"  It depends on whether or not your talking about a chocolate chip cookie or an ice cold swimming pool.  So what are you talking about, and what does it have to do with philosophy?

I disgree, Stephen, I think it's perfectly understandable as is.

Me, I'd rather be a big fish in a little pond as opposed to a little fish in the ocean. Relativity: the amount of teeth you're perceived to have (food chain) - - I'd much rather have a full mouth than be a small bite.

I think it's interesting, though, how so many of those at the top of the bottom are still perceived as being lumped in together with the rest of those in the bottom by those in the top (even those at the bottom of the top).

Um.

My problem is? Everytime I think I hit "bottom"?

Nod.

I find a new "low".

It doesn't matter so much to me because it all comes around.  When one is at the top of the wheel it soon turns to the bottom again, and when one is at the bottom, again it soon turns to the top.

Be careful what you wish for, Ron.

Ice floats.

Thank you all. Someone asked me that question once a few years ago I haven't quit thinking about it. I think being at the top of the bottom you'd be buried in too much beaurocratic BS. Top of the bottom would suit most fine if not for the whole ferris wheel effect. Thanks agian. JuleAnn

there is no point of reference to apply to the statement.  in its own vacuum, concepts such as 'top' and 'bottom' do not exist.

Of course they aren't the same.  Even relativity is not without absolutes.

"Of course they aren't the same"

perspective.

if one is the top of the bottom and the other is the bottom of the top then you have the middle if they are joined.  By saying you have the top and you have the bottom, I would believe that they are 2 pieces of a whole.

Of course that is my perspective and I wouldn't  think that just because I see it that way everyone else has to.

The top of the bottom or the bottom of the top?

I preferto be at the bottom of the top, as it is a shorter distance to the top, but still close enough to the top of the bottom, in case I change my mind and want to go back to the bottom of the bottom, or the top of the top, depending on which way I am facing.

"if one is the top of the bottom and the other is the bottom of the top then you have the middle if they are joined. "

By the way, I thought this was a good observation.  It could be like asking "is the glass half full or is the glass half empty?" where the half emptiness and the half fulness meet in the the middle.
