As I understand it a movie that cost some
two hundred million dollars to make
is not doing well in the theaters.

So if a team with so much experience,
talent and money can’t simply entertain
an audience for a couple hours,
how is a man or woman supposed to succeed
in a life without soundtrack?

Perhaps the media has contributed to expectations
that are for most of us beyond possibility to meet.

"I am too close to be dreamt of by him.
I do not fly over him, do not escape from him
under the roots of a tree.  I am too near....
... I am too near
to fall to him from the sky.  My scream
could wake him up.  Poor thing
I am, limited to my shape,...

From "I Am Too Close..."
Wislawa Szymborska

I disagree with the critics and the majority of dis-pleased audience.  The movie is not as visually entertaining as other epic films, but it still tells a great story that requires the movie goer to listen rather than just watch.  With that said, I think we have reached a level of expectation that is going to push the bar in film making.  Its a moving standard that makes humanity great.  We are never satisfied until we reach the next level and there is always another level.  I think currently in the movie industry we are at a time of technological advancement.  I think it is going to be in the theater side, which refers to seating, screens, projectors, etc.  Along with the continuing advancement of computer graphics, animation and movietronics.

I don't think we have reached the level of expectation exceeding ability.

Well, I'll give this to you, John: you have a knack for clever thread titles.

I haven't seen this film yet, although I want to.  Perhaps I'll drag Michael there for our honeymoon.

More later.

M,

Thank you; that was the question and the point
I was driving at.
