If you mean how does one reality compare against the other then my answer is:

Virtual reality is a poor comparison at this point in time.

If you mean how would you physically compare one against the other my answer would be:

The attributes of the original (reality) would have to be described and measured, then the same attributes would need to be investigated and measured in the virtual and any difference noted.

If you want a short definition of both then:

One is an obvious fabrication and the other is a series of mathematical calculations.

The trick is working out which is which.
