This is really random, and probobly boring for most of you, but since most of you are very intelligent, and well rounded, my Question is:
what could I write to a College for admission.....

Like what would be good things for me to say, i know you are all thinking cant this kid do it him self, well yes i can, but since you are all here and helpful, maybe you could all write something intellectual to help me out!

Thanks...
Its actually so i can transfer schools.....
Thanks again
Jeff

Sorry can’t help you, I never went to college.

However I am intrigued by this post, I don’t live in America and have Limited knowledge of the American education system but I’m amazed that it allows an essay for admission to be anything but the work of the applicant.

At first I wondered how close to cheating this idea sailed, then I began to wonder how the people judging the admission could make a decision to allow entry using this system, on the basis that the information supplied didn’t come from the applicant.

Trying to solve this I began to break down exactly what type of people the College were actually aiming to recruit. Presumable they’d be looking for someone with the initiative to collect available data, once that data was collected they’d want somebody who could recognise which pieces of data were pertinent to the subject in hand. The Colleges are, presumably, also looking for someone who can order the collected data and from it derive a logical conclusion and present any conclusions in an orderly and concise manner.

In short the fact that the admission isn’t an original work doesn’t necessarily mean that the candidate isn’t worthy of entry, this form of selection when looked at in this way has a lot going for it.

I wish you luck, like I said I can’t really help though I suppose if you got really desperate you could expand the above into a half decent essay.

Jeff... You have to write your own essay.  You know that. You do want to get past the first semester, I presume?  Fudging your way into school isn't a proper beginning for sure...

Now - Just sit and have a chat with yourself - with a pad of paper & pen in front of you.  Make a couple of lists.

Your first list should be about you - Your accomplishments - What have you done with your life thus far?  What's special about you?  What are your interests? What are your goals?  What are some of the most interesting experiences of  your life to date?  Where have you traveled?  Are you a sports fiend?  What are YOU all about?

Your second list should be about the school you're applying to for entrance.  What is their academic focus?  Where are they located? What sort of grads do they produce? What have their grads accomplished?  Are they sports oriented?  What is the school all about?

Now - Do some cross-matching... Where are your two lists in sync?... Begin to build an essay around those similarities.  Above all, let the school know that you'll offer them as much as they'll offer you.  You'll be learning more about yourself and your own future in the process...

... and do it in your OWN words.  Good Luck..
