You blazed into my life
Like a wind driven
Grass fire
Hot and fast

You grew
Encompassing
My tender roots
And then

without a backward glance
the shoulder you
presented
became
so cold
my heart froze

a question
unasked

I stood nearby
the flame
as it burned
and flickered
I endured the heat
endured the scorch
from your
temper

but I will not
endure
the coldness
that I
do not deserve

turn back upon yourself
extinguish the fire
with the shoulder
you turn to me now.

That last line blew me away....what a thought in there. Sad but well done.

And this is intense too...and you look good in firelight!

Loved this!

The final summation is a slam of the door.

I like seeing this in you, m'self...
(but then? I would...I tend to blaze a bit m'self...)

Oh gosh, do I know this.  You said is so well.  Don't know which is worse...scorched by the temper...frozen by the silence.

Great write.

I really enjoyed this.  Sounds like a great way for those people who blow hot and cold just to chill out!

Thank you all so much for your kind replies. I very seldom write from my own experience and this is one of those times...I heard a snippet of a conversation at work and it stuck with me...'blowing hot and cold'...so this is the outcome. Thanks again for reading!!

wondered where you have been... fighting fires perhaps after reading this...and wearing your coat at the same time...

nice to see you...

the piece.. well done, but I knew it would be when I opened it...

I always enjoy the intensity that you write so sincerely.  This runs hot and cold, and yes, it aches from all sides.

Nice Sharon~
