“Fresh melons, strawberries”, he shouted as he looked at me
His sun leathered skin seemed to stab
A pointed finger at my lacking
As if the years he wore
Could see beneath my skin

I shot a dirty look his way
To prove he hadn’t touched me
Then turned to finish my quest
My addiction calling out to me
What I needed old men can’t give

Paying for my need
And footsteps retraced
I turn away from the wrinkled face of accusation
The blatant choice I made
The square in hand and guilt I wore

To much to stand
I wish I had bought the melons instead

Fresh as the strawberries,
   filling as the melons,
      and as wise as
         any old
           man.

Somethings just fit well together.
