This was written for a dear friend of over 20 years who lost her eye sight a decade ago. She still struggles with her loss.

Blinded by a Memory

Picture album hold memory gaze
Framed beautiful in mind’s eye
Pretty pictures of bygone days
Shutter captured before sight die

She turn the pages in her mind
Reminiscing when eyes still see
As future ceased at moment blind
Her blank pages are left empty

She lives blinded by a memory
Pacified by a still frame mind
As now beauty her eyes can't see
Believes no beauty she can find

Thus her story remains untold
Until new photos her memory hold

Very nice Patricia -
reminds me a lot of when
I look through my albums
and each year I look back
and sigh
and each year is the same . .
but different

nice memory

Patricia, this feels so sad.
I hope that your "new memories" come into the makings very soon!

Thank you for your replies. I added a preface to this poem which tells of whom this poem was written...she is a dear friend of over 20 years who lost her sight about 10 years ago. I love her dearly, and would love to see her happy, but she lives in the past and finds no happiness in the now.

All I can do is be there for her and guide her when she asks for guidance.

Hi Patricia, so sorry about your friend, your poetry must paint so many pictures for her, to have known the gift and now be without would be very hard indeed. I hope that all her memories are still vivid and than she has many more friends as yourself, who share all they see.
I enjoyed this write, take care and wish your friend all the colours and bushes that will paint happiness into her life.

Sincerely
Rick

Nice expression of this loss...
Reminded me of many years ago when I met a woman that later became a very good friend.
She had been married to a very successful Doctor and every year they would travel to a different place in the world for one month...she had many picture albums full of her and her husband taken during these trips...she seemed so happy then and would share adventures with me...of travels and parties and dancing...but now as a divorced woman all those beautiful memories were in the past and the pain would often overcome her...James

This was such a sad, but strong write. I hope she bear the images in her heart, as I'm sure she is. You really touched me with this one.

Yours truly

Such griefs with such men well agree,
But wherefore, wherefore fall on me ?
To be beloved is all I need,
And whom I love, I love indeed.

Hello Patricia

This was written so well but such a very sad situation.  Your caring heart shines through your words.

Take care......Sue
