you were right
it tasted like christmas

three days
spent above ground
(for once)
we tried enticing the Ritalinesque squirrel
with some scrambled eggs
and chamomile transplants
he circled the wagon
long after we had fallen off of it
but, in the end
thought the better of our invite
and fled the porch
to find a telephone
or a bag of cashews
leaving us
to our proposed rest
inside your starlit harem
where we celebrated
a matrimony of wrastling
and acknowledgment
better days are coming
ones in which our time spent together
wont be restricted by an alarm clock
or by the bookends of Saturday and Monday

four weeks
is just down the hall
remember to travel lite
all that baggage that you don’t need
is better left
with the butterscotch schnapps

being responsible for the death
of eight bottles of untamed red
is something
I can live with on my dossier
as long as you
don’t hold me accountable
for the split
in the moon
it seemed no one could agree
on the math it involved
but everyone was sure
about you
about the things
that I already knew
not that you remember
any of that
darling
your memory being
whatever is convenient
for that particular article of dialog
I wouldn’t want to ruffle
your feathers
or question your capacity
for ingesting poetic horrocities

we speak to one another
in a language
all our own
the kind of thing
Ive always wanted to have
with another soul
kindred to my own

your face
brings out the gifts
that Ive always kept
to myself
and I know
that you understand
my ribbons
and my bows
in the same fashion
as I do
your own

see? Now this is what I'm talking about:

"we tried enticing the Ritalinesque squirrel"

I love the way you think!

and *shudders* to the butterscotch schnapps.
One of those things that always seem like a good idea at the time...

You Do capture moments, m'friend.

Excellent as always.
