Five O’clock. Shadows head for the hill as heels click the concrete. Sidewalks scurrying into the paved edge as the orange hand beckons ominously over impatient minds and cabs saying “No Fare”. Hustle the bustle, shake the bootie and boogey for the tunes. Eyes dodging and darting, afraid to stare upon the sway of 36's beneath 38's. as White Shoulders lingers the nasal. A wiener stand steams the air as diesel fogs the sky being scraped by a window washer's nightmare. Extra, Extra...now quiet as headlines lie about the street in wait of a pick up or a whirl from the sweeper from hell. Macho watching to make as the hiss of a subway door wakes the fantasy back into reality.... Five Oh Five, shuck and jive, the bowery airbrushed in Latino taste as the smell of Chinese mingles with sauerkraut, bratwurst and beer. Hustle the bustle, shake the bootie, jump the jive.. tomorrow’s another day.... |

Barry, I ain't no city boy. But seems I might have an idea what it's like now. Way cool write. What are the 36's and 38's?  If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

 (sigh) That's about my kind of routine now, dearest friend, when getting to the elementary school where I help children and the club where I perform my songs I commute by RTD!
