Listening to every heart

Retrospect...

isn't it grand...

you,
bringing me
back to Big Bear Mountain,
that summer of '62,
where filtered sunlight found calves in climb,
while leaves were shading slender legs
in loamy fill
with her seedlings in hand
seeding ground

leaving promises

                                        funny how we all grow
                                           and bend, in certain ways,
wind and rains, snows and earthquakes
                                        tornadoes and floods, hurricanes and
drought to be aligned as if
                                                 assigned
                                                        to one’s life…

all those promises,
only to be taken,
later,
in that summer of '02...

when ash
wafted down
from promises burned
by carelessness

to be taken to sea
by the Santa Ana Winds....

Aw such lovely penned retrospect...
"funny how we all grow
                                           and bend, in certain ways,
wind and rains, snows and earthquakes
                                        tornadoes and floods, hurricanes and
drought to be aligned as if
                                                 assigned
                                                        to one’s life…"

Such sage reflection in your parallels.....
You're still as talented as ever......

Wow.. what more can I say, but "Wow!"?

You have such a way with words, Sunshine, amazing.  You have a beautiful talent and I look forward very much to reading more of your work.

see you reworked it a bit....

reads well and tells a story in metaphor
in more than one way...

enjoyed.
