A photograph
edges worn
a smile smearing through tomorrow and today
edge of hair caught by wind
head tilted slightly toward the ground
my left hand placed so very carefully
in front of my forlorn face
the camera dropped slowly, slightly

'HA'

yeah... I laughed!
What are you gonna do about it?!
You wanna know why I did?
I'll tell you!
I laughed, yeah, laughed,
with my head thrown back all wild...
shaking side to side,
my throat offered up to the sky
mouth all kinds of wide
to warn away all persons not shaking
so, I rose my hand to anyone,
anyone in front of me,
because everyone, not just anyone
stared with those same dead eyes,
as if, whoever strayed behind me
wrote all answers black and white
between straps of shirt on their bare chest
truth strung between suspenders

so I just imagined
I was that motionless pictograph
that wasn't really motionless at all
really, I was a frozen notion
wading heavily through hot pools of truth
to finally weep and rest upon the shore
of all the ears of the world,
strung and knotted together,
though, deaf as they were...

~*This was tapped out after reading so many great poems here at Passions. So really I owe thanks to all who ever posted here... Thank you, thank you very, very much.*~

Whhoooo!!! I made it in Nightshade's library! I'm proud of that considering your work...

Thanks everyone for the beautiful replies. I think it helps fuel me greatly as a poet to have so much encouragement.

You list yourself as missong since 1999, however, with poems like this, you are going to have the world beating the bushes trying to find you. This is truly an outstanding job.

Day after day I'm more confused,
So I look for the light through the pouring rain...
