What does the poet do, who for everything knows the words to be said
What do they do, when the one they love goes away and inside they feel completely dead
What can I do to make you see, that the words I say are true
That everyday since we've been apart, I've been so completely blue

Yes I moved on with my life, what other choice was there to make
When the day you walked out of my life, all my love and happiness you did take
Though I go through the motions, and to most appear be happy as can be
It's only I who knows the tears I cry inside, waiting to be set free

You know who you are, the one I've loved and will till the ends of time
The one I know now though, who will never again be mine
You may read my words and assume, that I never think of you
Then again if you know me well enough, you'd know that's not true

Why did you write, I think it was more than to just drop a note to say hi
Are you thinking of me now, or was this just another attempt for us to say good-bye
Though months have passed, sometimes the tears at night on my pillow do fall
I have to reassure myself this was for the best, though for you my heart still does call

It's not likely we'll pass each other on the pavement or street
No awkward bumping into one another, so we'll never meet
That doesn't mean I don't still love you, because you know that I do
Deep down inside of me, I know you still love me too

Some things though aren't meant to be, and I guess we must move on
Realising the love we once shared, has forever been lost and gone
So what does the poet do, who for everything can wash the pain away with words
When she looks at her own blank page, and realises her heart still aches from that bleeding sword

Maybe one day, I'll understand more why you and I had to end
Perhaps then on a journey my heart will begin to mend
Until then I'll keep moving on, each day farther from the past
Until one day I won't be in love with you, or I'll realise it's a love that will always last

"love is like a butterfly--
if you chase it,
it will surely fly away,instead
hold it close and watch it grow into
something beautiful"

*sigh* my heart goes out to you...I know well such pain as this and your words say it so clearly...I wish I had something to say that is soothing...One thing I do know...It seems to me that poets, like all artists, seem to suffer a bit more than most...It seems to give more depth to our art...Take care and never give up having hope in your heart for love...**hugs**..

Aimster - I felt your sorrow, as I've also been there. One thing that helped me was to write and write you heart out and post your writings right here on PIP. It helped me...
