The door shut soft against the grain
as a latch clicked my heart shut.
A lingering sigh escapes lips that
have tasted vintage wine.

Still warm, the pillowed fluff that
rested beneath wildflower hair as
beaded pores reflect the moon’s
light against the headboard.

The musk of a dream lingers.
Reaching out, touching the warmth
of cotton and silk where curves
stirred the passionate flames.  Now
only embers glow the once roaring
hearth of lust.

Eyes become heavy as candles dance
the shadow,   and the soft sound of
bare feet walk wooden coolness
into dream scape...as a slumbering
smile glints the stars of night...
again....

Barry!
This is an incredible write. I think I had this experience once. Awesome writing. What a heart you have. Thanks for this keeper.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Stars with soft glow smile down
on him whose heart is pure
They bless with shining crown
him and his paramour

*sigh* Ah, dear friend and mentor...may you ever bless us all with your visionary words that we may be inspired evermore...Magnificent....

Oh Barry,

For some reason, I have missed this side of you in your poetry.  I am a new kid on the block, and too, I just discovered you a few weeks ago.  But man, have I been missing out or what? I am going to have to keep careful watch on you, Barry, don't want to miss anything...

Gee Barry, that was one terrific write! One of so many great ones you’ve written.

You have a real gift, my friend.

I hope your Summer is starting off nicely!

Take Care,

Richy
