Her Path

The calling came interrupting her youth.
Read wistful words she mistook as truth.
A path she must choose, a road to walk
Profoundly written with sidewalk chalk.

As years passed away as years will do,
She recalled the girl she’d once knew.
Now lost and ‘lone at dead end street,
Where nothingness and no where meet.

With no where to go and nothing to lose,
She walked backward the path she choose
To the see the words that caused her pain
But so long ago washed away by the rain.

Heart heavy with anguish of lost days past
With epiphany, she finds her truth at last.
To follow the path that is alone your own,
Her new life's credo now etched in stone.

Yes,  follow your own two feet down a path
that belongs to no other.  Very wise words
Patricia.  I think I have worn out a few
pair of shoes on several paths...not all
mine..over the years.  You are rhyming nicely.

Patricia, this was a wonderful write, and how true it is, to live by the supposed truths of others does not let us create our own way and path, so always wondering what might have been, enjoy the path you follow now.

Sincerely
Rick

A real way with words! I believe I have read your poems before and enjoy them very much.

It would be get if you took a look at my poems and commented on them.

As I read, I thought about walking backwards...and truthfully, we must all find the courage to return, grow and try again.
All blessings...nice write. TD

Patricia - to revisit the pain is remarkable, I don't really know if I could even though at times I still live it...

For Patricia,

If opportunity, won’t knock
It may be time to build a door
Then your hinges will not lock
they will be swinging evermore

If your ship, does not sail in
It might be time, to take a swim
And venture out into the deep
Where many secrets tend to seep

If paths go down a dead end street
and make you feel, less then complete?
Then you might have to build a road
So you won’t be stuck, with that toad!

Patricia, do you remember all the toads
you were telling me about, that you’ve had to kick off your lily pad?

lol

Patricia, your poetry is getting better all the time!

I hope, you are too,

Richy

Patricia,
Okay this is amazing! Oh I love this poem so much! Such great writing, as good as writing can get.

The imagery of the writing in sidewalk chalk, the little girl, the chalk washed away, so fantastic!

ooh all my favorite lines [I am so annoying I know   ]

"Read wistful words she mistook as truth.
A path she must choose, a road to walk
Profoundly written with sidewalk chalk.

Now lost and ‘lone at dead end street,
Where nothingness and no where meet.

To the see the words that caused her pain
But so long ago washed away by the rain.

With epiphany, she finds her truth at last.
To follow the path that is alone your own,
Her new life's credo now etched in stone."

What an ending!

This is easily one of the best poems I have ever read
