Stains

When the rain came,
I mixed it with tears
and let it cleanse my soul
of the debris you left.
But some things stain,
and don't wash away so easily -
like the sparkle your eyes used to have
when they looked at me,
or the nights we sat in the middle of the bed,
holding hands,
barley able to see each other in the dark,
talking about,
things.

Love . . .
stains worst of all.
It saturates the heart and soul
until it's an integral part of life
and doesn't wash away in rainy-tears.
It's an everlasting stain that can be tempered,
but not vanquished.

Today I cry in the rain
so others don't see the blemish,
but tomorrow -
tomorrow's another day.

Even though this is so sad, James, there is
much hope in this part......

Today I cry in the rain
so others don't see the blemish,
but tomorrow -
tomorrow's another day.

Jimmy,

I know this stain...and it's pain.  But remember love can stain "best" of all, too... an everlasting stain that you would never wish to wash away.

I enjoy your work.

Sustained

a mark has altered my existence
to change me and it was no error
was it you or I, who touched this vein
to reach beyond risk to know a heart in pump
seeing that first drop as it trickled to surface
drew me in and tears to my eyes
I bathed in its warmth letting it baptize me
letting one thing pass to another
and now the kaleidoscope changed again
and blood flows in a different rhythm
where salt can not mar the color of this dye
so I permanently wear this upon my heart
restructured to tattoo my very essence
and would I have changed any of this
not to wear these spots upon me
no, I proudly wear this stain
as a sign to all who dare to look
that there is no true ignorance in love

but not vanquished.

I liked that...and the way you ended this.

You're so right, tomorrow is another day, and that's the best part~  So sadly beautiful jwesley~

CPAT ...thanks and we hope we do..besides
work, and all the other things we'd
        rather not be doing...

NANCY ... always proud to hear from
        you...thanks

ETHEL ... if it wasn't for hope we'd be in
sad shape wouldn't we? (I enjoy
        writing the woe's of others)

MISS M ... my friend, we definitely share
something because I feel the same
       about your writing...

EA ... thanks much...especially the warm
       hug I enjoyed so-o much!

Thanks PATRICIA...my stain's been around for
29 years now and it's wonderful, as
you say ... and so are the one's left
over from "earlier" years, and yes,
        they too are STILL wonderful,
memories thought they may be.  As
        1slick titled it...they "Sustain..."

BLUES . . .not a memory, but a dream...one
of my favorites. Thanks for the kind
       words, my friend.

And NIGHTSHADE, I appreciate the read and
       and the thoughts...

Walk easy my friends...write on!
