~*~

cattails and daisies
blow in the breeze
butterflies flit about
while birds sing in trees
frogs leap on lily pads
honeybees buzz around
dragonflies go whizzing by
busy ants march along
a small brook is babbling
a wide river roars
fluffy clouds go sailing by
a mighty eagle soars
sunny rays on summer days
soak up early dew
honeysuckle fills the air
and mourning doves coo
the willow is weeping
while whippoorwills sing
by the waterfalls in the forest
the fairy bells ring

Hi, Julie!

Thank you for saying so! It pleases me that you could envisage the images I was endeavoring to portray!

hmmmm, well first of all, i think you may need to consider seperating this into stanzas.  i got half way through it and then i realized that it contained rhyme, so i had to go back and re-read it.  another thing you might want to do is include punctuation.  in a few spots, it is a bit iffy on the image you are trying to give cuz it just runs on and on; there are no real pauses.  the rhyme isnt exactly perfect either.  it changes quite often, you might want to fix this so it reads a little easier and smoother.  other than that, i like it.  it seems to describe the ideal summer day, nice.  thanks for sharing.

Earth Angel...I must say I loved this one. It's imagery and other uses of literary elements just melted my heart in ways of beauty and peace. It was a beautiful, I enjoyed reading it, greatly. Pe@ce. ~*~Kirah~*~

drummer boy ~

I wanted it to be simple and without punctuation to appear more naive and child-like. That is why I didn't capitalize the title. I actually did want it to "go on and on" as I wanted the images to run together as a child would perceive them. I do however, appreciate the suggestions and you taking the time to read my poem and comment.
I am pleased that you feel that I portrayed the ideal summer day! Thank  you!

May your summer be a glorious one!

oh, ok.  got ya.  i made a mistake in my previous post, i meant to say 'rhythm,' not 'rhyme' when i said "the rhyme isnt exactly perfect either."  and there is one spot where the rhyme is not there: line 6/8.  all the other lines rhyme, but not these two.  is there a specific reason for this?

Ahhh what a nice Summer day outdoors you brought us with this Linda.

No doubt about it, Summer is here. I can tell, by the humming of my air conditioner... lol

Linda, as in all of your poetry, to me, this one was, “just perfect.”

Thanks Much,

Richy

Linda:  Summer is a busy time out there, isn't it?  What a beautiful description you have written, and it reminds us to stop and pay attention.  I especially love thinking about the fairy bells!

In the meantime I hope you don't get inundated by the rain and swept away by the torrential downpours!

(smiles) Awwwwwwwwww, oh my gosh, this is so beautiful! (kiss on cheek) Oh my gosh, this reminded me so much of my grandparents house in southeastern Missouri near Cape Giradeau; every July we come out there and it is so breathtakingly beautiful: the fireflies at night, the daffodils and tiger lilies growing in he fields, and it truly makes me wonder if there truly are faeries all around! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, you truly are our fairy godmother, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Linda - you are one happy lady writing this. It just dances with summer. H'mmm, gives me a thought, would a dance in summer do?
