This Poem was written by my 10 year old son. He asked that I post it here....His name is TJ

Black is hatred living inside you.
Black is emptiness in your life.
Black is scolding food in your mouth.
It's ashes from a fire.
It's darkness of the night.
Dark is a hiding place for light.
Black is the smell of smoke from fire.
It is the sound of the fire crackling.
Black is the sign of death
and the color of it's black rose.
Black is the darkness in your soul.
Lighten up.

Wow.  That was a rather interesting read.  I enjoyed it.  I especially like the turning point of the poem at the end with the line "Lighten up."  I think it was rather insightful and extremely well developed.  Your son has extraordinary talent.

10 years old, did you say! My goodness, at that age I was writing about fairies and a candycane world--now that I come to think about it, I still am! LOL

Your son is far beyond his years in his thinking and his writing ability. I must admit however, that I was delighted with his closing line. My heart feels lighter now knowing that he isn't mired in the darkness and that he has a great sense of humor! He is very special--just like his proud Dad!

Love & hugs to you both,
Linda

Thank you linda.
You'll be happy to know that TJ is a very happy go lucky boy. His heart is filled with love for everyone, including Stray animals in which he keeps bringing home to save from the cruelty of the street. At least that's the reason i get with each stray kitten. LOL

Albert, I hope you encourage your son to sign up soon...as you know, we're only supposed to be posting our own poetry, but we've many "family members" around here and with poetry like this?  We don't want to let TJ get away!

I'll look forward to welcoming your Son into Passions when he's ready!

As for stray kitties?  Ah...big heart!!!

Ah a boy after my own heart!  When a soul loves animals they are indeed gentle to the core.  I hope you encourage him to sign up too, writing is an excellent outlet for the emotions of a youngster growing up, and the teen forum has so much to offer.  Nicely done indeed for such a young man.

a great write for such a young mind

* does he mean "scalding" as in hot
or scolding as in reprimand...
just thought he might want to check those spellings out... the teacher in me

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.
