I sit alone and wonder
Where our love went so wrong.
There's nothing left of you now -
Just memories and our song.
What made you change your mind,
Like lightning from the blue?
My heart thought you were the keeper kind,
A love that was so true.
All the years we spent together,
Building our dreams up.
Why is this so easy for you,
But for me it is so rough?
You told me you were leaving,
Without a shed of tear.
My heart doesn't want to believe
That you will never again be near.
I guess this time it's really over,
Not really meant to be.
Because if it truly was,
You'd be right here with me.

Welcome to Passions!

Good poem... I've had the same doubts as well. Here is something to think about, though: maybe that person was placed in your life for just a small period of time, to help you in some way. And it was "really meant to be" because although it hurts that they're gone, they left behind a legacy to live on...

Blessings,

El Campeador
