Around the bend of Dead Man’s Curve
a car of black did speed.
As rocks did roll and cause a swerve
white lightnin’ brought the greed.

Ten bottles filled up to the rim,
the prize of mountain men.
With odds of jail more than just slim
a few did haul the sin.

For many fought and died upon
the slopes of green and gold.
Haulin’ whiskey, relying on
their courage ever bold.

He was...

Just a boy when his Daddy died
below that curve of death.
The shine exploded and he fried
as screams brought a last breath.

A thirty-two hard top black coupe
with dual exhaust and trim.
A cargo of white lightnin’ soup
from bottom to the brim.

The motor hummed, quietly purred
as a golden sun fell.
While old dogs barked, the mountain stirred
for time was nigh to tell.

A driver walked and sat within
that throbbin thirty-two.
His only thought to boldly win
for this was all he knew.

And as the tires did loudly scream
beneath a heavy load.
A mountain boy did ride his dream
down that dark thunder road.

Hey, kool, my man...dated a girl up in Mississippi, many years ago, and it seemed like all her kinfolk had stills up in the hills, and half of them were cops! Go Figure!

Reading this brought back visions of Robert Mitchum and "Thunder Road"...

Thanks for the write and the read...enjoyed mucho...

When I visited Tennessee many many years ago, I wondered where they hid the stills...because you could hear the thunder down the mountain of the screaming cars hell bent for leather...

Ah Magnus...a new time for you to recapture, and bring back to us, just as you do.  Thank you!
