               Hope
I had been talking to him for months, and I felt like I really knew him. And I was sure that he knew me too.  We had been talking on the phone, e-mailing, and writing letters back and forth. ::smiles:: I had at least thirty letters from him sitting in a shoe box in the corner of my room. I would pull them out from time to time, and read them over, taking in all the wonderful things he had to say about me. He really liked me a lot, I realized.

As I sat at the bus station and saw a white eclipse pull up, I knew it was him. I couldn't see inside, but I still knew. I just knew. The car came to a stop, but it took him a long time to finally get out of the car.  I wondered if he was as nervous as I was. The butterflies in my stomach were so big, I was worried that they would never go away. Finally, the driver's side door opened, and a tall, blonde, man stepped out of the car. He was wearing sunglasses, and I saw him glance around the station, looking for me. I smiled to myself, and instead of getting up and running to him, I decided to make him find me, first. I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, and bit my lower lip lightly as I saw him walk towards me out of the corner of my eye.

"I know you saw me pull up, Hope." He said with a soft chuckle. I smiled, and stood up, embracing him tightly. When I was ready to pull away, he wasn't, and he kept me held close to him. I took advantage of this closeness, and squeezed him tightly with my arms wrapped around his neck, "How was your trip?" He asked, his thick southern accent as sexy as every.

"It was good. Long, but good." He nodded,

"Well, are you ready?"

"You bet." I said. I turned and began walking back to his car. He walked a few steps behind me. When we finally reached the car, he stepped in front of me, and opened the door like a gentlemen would. I wasn't used to gentlemen. I smiled, and got in the passenger side door, and watched this tall, handsome man walk around to the drivers side.

We rode most of the way in silence. I assumed that we were both so nervous that we didn't know what to say to one another. Every so often I would catch him glancing at me, and when I would look back, he would look away. It was cute. Really cute.

When we arrived at his apartment, he lead me to the guest room. It was a pretty room, and it suited me well. It had light pink walls, and a queen size bed with white sheets with pink flowers covering them, and a matching comforter.  I set my duffel bag down on the bed, and informed him that I was going to take a shower, since it was much too late to do anything that evening. We would probably just sit on his couch and watch movies. And that was fine with me.

He handed me two towels and I shut the bathroom door behind me. I got in and let the hot water run all over my body. I tried my best to think of what I would say to him. I knew him so well, and yet he was a complete stranger to me at this point. I was speechless. Up until I saw him I had a million questions to ask him, a hundred things to say. Thousands of jokes to tell. And now, speechless.  I must have been in the shower much longer than I thought, becuase after what only seemed like a few minutes, there was a light tapping on the door.

"Hope, it's Nathan, you okay?" I smiled to myself, the water still running over my naked body.

"Yes, I'm fine. I'll be out in just a second." I heard him turn, and pad back into the living room in his sock feet. I then jumped out of the shower, and dried myself off as quickly as I could, pulling on my pink pajamas that I loved so much. My friends had tried to convince me into bringing some sexy langerie to wear for him, but I decided against it. What a nice first impression that would have been.

I pulled my reddish brown hair into a messy pony tail, and walked out of the bathroom, joining him in the living room. He smiled and me, and patted the seat next to him on the couch. I walked over and sat next to him. The sunglasses were off, I noticed, and he had the most beautiful eyes that I had ever seen in my life.

"So, uh, what movie are we watching?" I asked, not sure of what else I might say to him.

"The Patriot" he said simply. He pulled a blanket off of the couch, and motioned for me to move closer to him, so he could cover me up. I wasn't sure why, It wasn't even cold in the apartment, but I didn't argue. Whether it was just him thinking I was chilly, or a way for him to get closer to me, I'm still not sure. I scooted closer to him, and he wrapped me up tightly in the blanket. He picked up the remote and hit play.  Throughout the movie I would look over at him, and he would always look back and smile. About halfway through, he reached over and put his arm around me nervously. I smiled up at him, reassuringly, as if to tell him that it was okay. He relaxed after that.

When the movie ended, he walked me to my room, as if he were walking me to my doorstep after our first date. I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek,

"Goodnight, Nathan." I said softly, turning and walking into my room, and shutting the door behind me.
