Scattered leaves and seed pods scrunch under my feet.

I walk to the pools edge, burnished copper and yellow leaves, flutter then float on the still brackish, watery sheet.

Gentle circles of shockwaves ripple out as the leaves fall on top of the pool's filmy surface.

whistling wings of doves suddenly shatter the silence and fly away fast with gentle grace.

Smoky grey skies, angry with the threat of rain, merge and meander above my head.

A lonely tuneful song bursts forth and brings the bleak day alive, a robin fills me with joy, as he puffs out his feahters of red.

Pattering rain falls through the canopy ofremaining leaves, wetting the busy, calling chaffinches and tits, as they search for seed on a beech tree.

Cleverly the birds move to crouching canopies of conifers and try to dry, under the black branches, creatures truly free.

Dusk draws in drizzle, people in warm coats pass me on their way home.

Sizzling power lines hiss with electricity as the light rain lands on the lines, we wait for the winter weather to come.

Home and dry i think about the coming snow and how the birds and animals will survive.

I dream of seeing them wild and free, in the warm summer sun, unique,beautiful,alive...!

awesome write! hard to read though for my straining eyes...you could use more line breaks to make the lines shorter, or a larger text size or different font to make it easier for the reader to read...but overall I loved the poem! Just going blind in me old age
