They hang there all around us, all to watch in patience time
The eyes of youth in picture, and each moment shared as mine
Of people, who are loved ones, of baby smiles and joy
Each covered by a coat of dust, but all there to enjoy

I look at faces younger, than the mirror now does show
I think back on the moments then, of all so long ago
Then have a laugh at dress code and the style of hair and shoes
The people that I’ve near forgot, the smokes back then and booze

The parents that were then my age, how quick that time has gone
So many memories in a frame, which seem to all belong
The tapestries and all the prints, the times of which I’ve known
Have given me a place called home, and comfort that has grown

My background, cumulation of the years from then to this
Little plagues that hold a place from times that now I miss
Where time had halted, so to share the past with what does live
Photos, pictures, prints and more, which all so much do give

Rick

Photos are a treasure for memory, arne't they?  This poem should be framed and hung on the wall with them.  So well done!

Great write, Rick.

Let the photos jog a memory from your mind.
Then sit back- let the picture show unwind.

Geez Rick, this is a good write, but a very depressing theme for me...

Thanks Martie for this reply, they are a treasure which I am sure most of us do not appreciate enough, pictures of our past. Your comments very much appreciated and heart felt.

Patricia, nice to see you here, thanks for the reply and for sharing the show with me, take care, I might dust off my collection some time.

bslicker, without memories, who would we be and what would become of the past but nothing? Thanks for the reply, it was great.

Dear Dixie, thanks for the reply, but sorry for making you more sad, I hope your pictures will all soon be of joy, which you will cherish for life.

To you all, again thank you, very much appreciated.

Sincerely
Rick

Hello Rick

You continually amaze me with the ease in which you seem to write.  No matter what the topic, you cover it to perfection and I so enjoy reading your heartfelt which words.  I too have many pictures adorning my home, many of my father so I feel he is with me every day.

Take care......Sue

Hi Rick, This was so very good, I really liked it!

I agree with Martie, this poem should be framed and hung on the wall, along with all of your favorite pictures.

What once was limited to only our memories, and then to painted portraits. Pictures now, give us that special ability, to actually, look back in time. And whether it’s a studio portrait of an ancient ancestor, or a faded Polaroid of your youth, kept in a shoebox. They all serve to remind us, of the special events of our past, good times, and bad. That have transformed us into who we are, today.

Another amazing poem Rick, that really made me think, and feel...

Thanks Friend,

Richy

Dear Sue, your comments here are all so greatly appreciated and heart felt, somehow it does come easy to me, I don't know why, but am very greatful that it does, as with friends, all gifts should be treasured. Thank you friend. Enjoy the pictures you have and the memories they hold.

Dear Richy, how are you my friend, great to read your comments again, they are always filled with wisdom and the feel of honest heart, good to have you around and keeping all company.

To you both, again thank you, sorry for the late reply to your comments, but just found this poem again in my private library, which has just been updated.

Sincerely
Rick
