I sat and waited for you to reply,
Finding myself once again in deny
that you could ever break my heart,
that you could smile as I fell apart.

Now I’m wondering about the reimbursement part.
Have you found it in your bankrupt heart
to offer a lost soul some compensation?
If not to me, then to the goddess of love
who helped yoke us into a you and me
though we knew it was not meant to be,
but chose to follow our self-hewn
lusty boulder-strewn path anyway?

I know it wasn’t your fault.
You made it perfectly clear nothing ever was.
We should have kept our distance
and not banked on a future together.
I was making regular deposits.
You began withdrawing immediately.

Somewhere in your travels,
from there to here and back again,
have you thought about the yield?
How to offer the ultimate compensation?
It’s really not expensive, even you can afford it.
Just three words will do. Just say it.
'I am sorry'...
so my emotional banks can return to zero,
and I can begin moving towards fulfillment.

I don't think we like this person.

A good strong poem; I hope you can let the feelings go.

Thank you for sharing it.

Bernie, thank you for reading and commenting, its good to see you back in here

Ice, I have, for the most part. A little residual pain still dribbles from my pen. Thanks, friend, for the reply.
