so I'll bite the lower lip
I'd turned my bullets in
sometime in the seventies
and peace was just a burn of flag
that didn't mean a thing to me
no, not then
and perhaps,
it is nothing to me now.
even tho I cried to see
the rubble
disillusions build--
I, the daisyqueen, did sit
and prayed for kids
to commit
horrific suicide
as they acted out their rage--
symbolic act of patricide
build the bombs
to have your say--
now there is no other way...
and I know it's what "they" thought
(and part of me still nods in shame)
Power.
In the co2,
poetry--
insecticide
trucks of anger
rolling in
and planes
that broke the speed of sound
weary now of words.
Now I bite the lower lip
if only to cease quivering.
It seem the rhetoric does work.
The words, they can mean anything--
just like infamous inkblot.
I always hated politics--
so why did I choose word?
I shake my head confused today,
knowing the fine line.
Madman or a prophecy?
Today I only question self
and feed my head
the liquid gold
assuring me that
no one cares...
if any ever did.

What a great excuse to drown.
"Salute'"
from the floor...
licking fuzzy lips to ask
if I can have some more...
specks of blood on lower lip
smiling red flecks on the teeth
downing shots of quick forget
perversely sparking memory
of all I once believed.

Strong and very clear even with the sparkles in the amber fluid dear.

Tom Waits always says, "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."  I've never doubted the logic of that statement.

Thank you for sharing this.

Karen...I agree with Brian...this one hurts.
And...what 'Deer said...people care, and I'm one of them.
Love ya, lady.

When you birth these...
do you sit back from pure exhaustion?

I would...
I did, once...when Mysteria worked me to death to find an ending that she and her friends hadn't already decided upon...and I felt like I had given birth to triplets...

but you...you gutwrenchslide these out...

so?  Where's the book?

Hey--quick thanks and kisses to all for taking the time to read and reply.

(and psssst...ya'll stop worrying, I'm okay, okay? Just a combo of natural causes and drinking myself sick--so tsk to me--and shame on me at that. I'll be back around later! Love and gratitude, yes, all you mother hens, I will behave myself--for awhile.)
