Withered and worn, yet so alive
within the eyes.   As the haze of ages
blurs the window.    I smile into those
once so radiantly blue.

The laughter still rings the ear as a
once soft lip cracked by decades of
chap smile fleetingly back, dampened
by the teeth lying in the jar.

The wisp of you, so frail and bowed
to the wind,   precarious in your
gait, shuffling.   Slender hands grasp
the air in hopes of a touch of kindness.

Sunrise has basked your face in warming
gold four score.    And still you rise
to meet.  The aroma of beans, the crunch
of a flake, slices of banana falling
gracefully into a bowl.

Tinkling, that spoon swirling the aroma,
turning granules of sweetness into the
savor of morn as eggs dance within
a blackened skillet beside slices of
a pig’s best.  Crisp to the crunch
as yellows mingle the toast.

If only DVD could capture the feel
of your hug as nicely as the smell of
your aftershave still tickles
.....my dreams.....

It's the quality of the complement that i feel, not the quanity.

A very fine job on this. Took me back to some mornings of my youth

Hello Barry

The images portrayed through your words were so vivid and I felt so much love and warmth through your words.  I still remember the smell of my father's aftershave and how he would always playfully dab a little on the end of my chin as I watched him.  The love for your father is so very evident.

Take care......Sue

Dear Barry, you touched my heart with this beautiful lines dedicated to your Father.

You made me remember the frail hands of my mother when she was ready to leave, once those hands were the strongst ever ...

Thank you.
Love, Margherita
