From Skipping to Marching
matt keach

Elated, I move through endless fields
A recipient to what summer yields
A boy at play is a ray of heaven
Now, I skip and smile at seven

Skip, skip and hope night never falls
Skip, skip and rejoice in sticks and balls

Chasing the sun down, eden's warden
A child at play in eve's garden
Frogs and squirrels all become friends
Together we're hoping today never ends!

Skip, skip and hug my friends and kin
Skip, skip and in every game, everyone wins

Father sat me down and told me the country is at war
We need some strong men to spill some blood and gore
He's always loved his country more than his own life
He said he'd gladly offer up his sons or his wife

March, march and hear the call to arms
March, march sound the war alarm

Well, I think I agree with what father has told me
I've got to sign up to defend and be all I can be
I'm eager to fight and prove myself in battle
Our enemies soon we will slay like cattle

March, march and operate a tank
March, march and try to gain a rank

Faster than you can snap
The bullets fly
Before I can blink, I've fallen
and I die

Now, I'm back where I began
Decaying matter in the sand
It seems from womb to worms I ran
