a bad day
always leads me to the near out of doors
to my surprise
and then apathy
i discover the cat chewing on my plants
the ones i set apart from the rest
even bought a terra cotta pot for the new friends
(only friends)
my consolation for a miserable evening
but now…
i survey the beast and the damage done
with absolute indifference
as he has a banquet on my efforts
but then again
maybe he needs the greenery more than myself
i ask him if he prefers the mint
or the chamomile
as i take a slow drag
off of the cancer agent held lazily between two fingers
and contemplate an intervention

i use to worry the flora and fauna to an early grave
instead
now that i see they do better off with out any coaxing
i let nature take its course
and the let the cat devour
perhaps it’s better this way
let it alone
what good can come from such palms
i wouldn’t call it the touch of midas
yet the timid one who takes the backseat in every matter
seems to be the cause of a maelstrom at times
she doesn’t mean to
“ha!” the critics cry
disbelief enchants them
as she is left with apologies
melting through small corrosive hands

and so
as i recline in a lawn chair
with hole punched vegetation
and a coat of pollen on the stagnant
i pick up the pen
(quickly, before it fades away)
and sign the resignation papers
take the final vow
to not meddle in another’s affairs
the cat happens to agree with my conclusion
for only he and i
and lets not forget the afflicted
know what damage
i pretend i am not capable of

enjoyed this piece of catnip

I'd be found curled up in the comfort of chamomile most days, but mint is so refreshing.

(sigh) So I'm assuming since you decide not to meedle in those affairs now that your preference is chamomile, that way you won't have to breathe and have people tell if the mint is there in your mouth, and with the chamomile you could see rest at ease and let go of your mind! (big hugggsssssss) I'[m a chamomile person by the way, though I need some honey in it too, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Casey, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

It's a bad sign when plant apathy sets in.

You made me smile tho. I remember the day I knew I was in trouble myself. A rare freeze forecast for New Orleans, so I made a drink and went to do my pacing outside, but didn't move a single plant. I just told them all they were gonna freeze their roots off tonight, and drank.

and I think there is no question of mint OR chamomile, like me, the kitty apparently prefers a blend...

Enjoy your work lady. Well done.

It looks as if you are fairly new, so if I haven't said welcome, I'm saying it now.

I just woke up, and don't have my wits totally about me, but something about this just slips inside of my mood. I can't explain just what yet...but I will. The ending caught me up also.
