You Leave Me No Choice
By: Noah Eaton
5/29/03

Seems even on a Friday evening we're never eye to eye
Failed to notice your pupil steering left when it should be turning right
The needle jumps and the clocks are running twenty seconds late
The way your eyelashes invaricate and your straight face objurgates

But I'm not going to fall to this old bag of tricks
Stay a while and see and see the hairshirt wearing thin
Even when you're not wearing corduroy, I can still hear the warning
'Cause you leave no choice in the matter
You leave me no choice in the matter...

I find it hard not to put all the blame on you
Nothing seems to change even when you're always on the move
For every precipice you encounter you always have a parachute
You hide the truth behind your thick opaque jumpsuit

Is it really worth trying to appear like amethyst?
With all the blood you shed for diamonds, the luster will only persist
Until your crystal begins to dust on that bookshelf
'Cause you leave me no choice in the matter...
You leave me no choice in the matter...

Now I realize we all happen to make mistakes
But if no one is disqualified, no one is safe
So I have a fatal decision I must make...

You're a vampire that I dare not try to fight
Even when I can tell you're beginning to go blind
And I can forgive, I can forget, but I'm not asking for a compromise...

You send me down the chutes when I wish to climb the ladders...
......So you leave me no choice in the matter
You leave me no choice in the matter
You leave me no choice in the matter
You leave me no choice in the matter
You leave me no choice in the matter...

Noah, your style is one of a kind. A nice blend of compassion, intellect, fervor, awareness, and consciousness, just to name a few.

Always a celebration of artfulness, as well as a delightful learning experience...

A real pleasure, as always Noah!

You've painted a picture and stirred the senses to easily understand your words and rhyme. Much talent here!

Blessings!

Well, I have to echo Janet Marie, Noah ... I love the language you've used in this piece. Very well composed, and I love your visual reference to shutes and ladders. A very powerful read, my friend ... much enjoyed!

Best wishes,
/Kit

I know this...and although I have desired an alternative to the end, there comes time of impasse...thus the door slams and the key turns to lock away the memory.

Loved this!  You speak truth.

Noah...A sad song of dissappointment, bitter tears. Written as only your talented pen could dare to write. My wish for you...much bluer skies. ***Ivy Rose

Hello Noah

How do you do it?  Your words were amazing and so very powerful were the images.  I hope all is well with you.

Take care......Sue

I never realized that heartbreak could be so beautiful.  I must have more of this paradoxial feeling.  Your words send me into a trance and I feel myself slowly falling in love with your words and the beauty they emit (no matter what the circumstance).  Again, thank you for the beauty you have shed on this cynical world I live in.
