Purple Days to Come
[best to be read slowly…Patricia, this means you]

I am going to grow old
gracefully
and revel in quiet
and peace
and books
and leaf
through the passages
one by one by one

and I shall wear purple
socks and hats,
gloves and lingerie robes ~
perhaps not all at once
but to amuse grandchildren
maybe I will

yes I will wear purple
and have white hair
and wear my glasses
while sipping tea
and there shall be
wine
at the required time, half past today

when this moment comes
as it must and shall,
I will leaf
the pages of friends
once well met
in blue walls of passion

some will have gone away
some will have stayed
through the pages I leaf
of friends well met
never to forget

and I shall see you
all in purple’s haze
even on the sunniest days
in the spirit’s realm
in sonnets sung
at Cap’n’s helm
on Cape Cod’s bay

Seattle shall call
the Floridian skies
to meld upon pages
before my eyes,

a western maiden
in tangled tress
and yet another
who's depth is blessed
and still a poet
who would sing
of paved roads
and trees with rings

Texas troubadours
too shall meet
balladeers shall sing
looking suthern in mem’ry
and devinely
hear the call
of our Aussies, sweet

and in the cold
of northern clime
I’ll find sweet poet’s
rhyme
of days of yore
forevermore

here, held
in my hands
veined in purple
to match
the rest of me

and forever shall
painters of prose
permit
purple to hold
sunshine…

[A thank you to all of Passions’ poets for your beautiful works - and for the encouragement you give to our fledgling writers who come in with dreams that we share...a continuum, if you will, which threads us all together...]

And, my dear Sister, I see us there, we two side by side... sipping fresh tea from our pretty little tea cups adorned with purple wildflowers. There we are...sitting side by side on beautiful antique rockers with lovely lavender throws upon our laps.  I ask you if you remember...remember the oath I made to you so many years ago.  You smile...I smile.  "From my Sunshine, I shall never stray." Then we passionately giggle of the days of my Freshman years when I was greener than the grass.  We speak softly, sweetly at the inspiration we both found at Passions Place.  Yes, my Sister, I see we two...sisters of poetry, friends of heart, two souls that He brought together in His glory.

God Bless You, My Sister of Sunshine,
Patricia
