The daylight breaks anew in soft accord
In streaming light across the shadowed dawn
A gift that gently feathers, from my Lord
It touches gracefully and then is gone.

Though shrouded, darkest shadows filter in
And rock me clear to my eternal core
They push me down, repeatedly, in sin
I flounder helplessly forevermore.

My weary eyes behold a dawning light
I grovel, but I cannot reach from here
Please tell me, Lord, do I have any right
To beg for mercy sweet with You so near?

So powerful is your beseeching call
My Lord, my God, you surely are my all.

Marge, I am over-awed with the beauty of your sonnet and the accompanying picture. One who can write of such grace, surely must walk in it as well.

Loving hugs,

Marge this sonnet is beautiful. You did excellent on your first one. But of course, everything you do just gets better.

Beautiful presentation and certainly a wonderful sonnet Marge.
I was away for the day and only had a few moments to read tonight. Thank you for reminding me of how beautiful a sonnet can be.

I was told I should read this... Now I know why!!!
WOW
This is so beautiful and heartwarming. Reminds me, most, that God sustains us even here on the earth.
I could go on.. but just know, I love this!
God bless you, richly!

Thank you ALL so much~
As I told 'em in the Workshop Forum ...

Sonnet is not a 'natural' format for me, as I have a tendency to da-DUM to a different-metered drummer~
However, I attempted it ... and with Denise's TREMENDOUS help was able to complete the assignment.

STRESS ????  Yeppers, I told ya' I was 'sick' ... but ya' wouldn't listen ... sooooooooo Doc says I now have a valid excuse (notice I didn't say REASON) to revert to my childish antics and RETURN TO THE PLAYGROUND !!  Wahooooooooooooooo !

Swings n' things
and merry-go-rounds
Out on the playing field
I can be found~

Singing and swinging
twirling 'round with delight
DA-duming to my own beat
Sifting sand in the box
playing with the building blocks~

Having just a little fun
cause now I don't hafta count my DA-DUM !

Thanks everyone ... ESPECIALLY YOU, Denise~
*Huglets* from the playground~

Sometimes, I'm surprised they let me into class !!

If you haven't visited the Poetry Workshop Forum .... please do !
We really have fun ..... and learn 'things' to boot !!!

I sneak in and out of class, Marge, and yes, it seems you all do have a great deal of fun mixed in with the learning! I privately enjoy all the chuckles. As for the assignments? I usually say, "Say what?" and retreat into my comfort zone of thinking in iambic pentameter. Of course a really neat trick would be to get it from my head onto the paper!

Marge, this is so beautiful. I love the poem as well as the picture. It is absolutely beautiful.
Now, as far as class....I can't seem to do any of the things right since the rictameters, so I think that's why I've been doing this lately.....

Singing and swinging
twirling 'round with delight
DA-duming to my own beat
Sifting sand in the box
playing with the building blocks~

I do miss the class, though, so I may visit class in June, if they'll let me. LOL

Oh Marge,

I knew I was in for something special, well, just because I saw your name.  Your visuals are so delightful and your words always uplift my heart.  This time you out did yourself.  You speak the truth so beautifully.

So powerful is your beseeching call
My Lord, my God, you surely are my all.

Wonderful...
