COMING HOME

The wind was blowing gently through the trees,
through the trees,
The flag was flying proudly in the breeze,
in the breeze
The drums were beating slow
And bugles soft and low,
As our soldiers returned from overseas,
from overseas.
Except for there's a few,
When Taps so gently blew,
Will not be coming home from overseas,
from overseas.

God Keep.

after seeing the special on Bob Hope last night...my thoughts are on all those who lost their lives then...but how at least they were given a happy moment then when he entertained those troops

The hardest things said the most softly. Well done. This reads like the sound of the song.

Sadly Beautiful...it makes the heart weep and cheer at the same time...Tears of joy mingle with tears of sadness...Magnificent..

Beautiful poem. My brother just came home from Iraq on Monday after being overseas for 9 months. While I am relieved that he is home safe - I have a great sense of pride for what he and his fellow Marines have done for us.  I got chills reading your poem - it was wonderful.

My eyes sting...
So much,
in very few lines...

Thank you, Frank

Welcome home, soldiers of America...

“We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best that we can find in our travels is an honest friend.” –Robert Louis Stevenson
