In the dentists chair..how big it was
would it be filling this time again?
oh..no..with a little inspection of the cavity
just a scraping...bit of polish and presto
tooth enamel as bright as new
as bright as newly buffed shoes
began to look forward to a routine
yearly trips to a familar vinyl seat office
on Bernard St...remember the aqaurium in the foyer

in that dentist's chair..instuments hanging nearby
found out that I had a gradual overbite..
nothing serious.......just been clenching teeth
had transferred tension into my bite
had some difficulty to sleep at night...
a filling here and soon another there
then no others were needed...not fair
but the tooth enamel would still be polished
as bright as a spiffy pair of school shoes.

It almost felt routine to have teeth cleaned
guess I had learnt what it was to be weaned.

wincing and smiling--how could ya know?

Popping in here with my daily toothache (I am still not over the trauma of those visits)

Nope. Still won't go. (And rumor has it they will give me drugs, and I STILL won't go. That should tell ya somethin'! )

Thanks for making this big baby smile.

(and I used to like the "diamond rings", but I had a bad trip on the laughing gas once, and still won't breathe that stuff...)

sigh. I DO go on and on, don't I?

lol ..I had to go lastweek, the week before that, and next week, too. *sigh* I seem to clench my teeth, too. Now I've got some weird uncomfortable glob of plastic rubbery stuff that I have to wear day and night.
ohhh life is good!
*shudders* now don't remind me of the place, again!

Always, Alyssa

- And so it was that time stood still -

Serenity,

yes you do..but it's neat to read your experiences...it reminds me of the tales the dentist used to tell...or rather his idea was to get me talking in between ...

Hey Alyssa

I have yet to do something really major...maybe the overbite has been a blessing in desguise saving wear and tear on the crowns..anywho lets enjoy what we've got
until the time comes for a pull here and there

I love the shoe similes. They made me smile. Actually, your whole poem was subtely humorous. Keep it up!

The one good thing about getting older is you very rarely get cavities, gotta love that part.  I knew this fear so well, and you sure know how to write about it, enjoyed.
