I wish that I could fine the wurds
to rite you a nise poam
I’d wrap it in a purdy cloth
and write down who it’s froam

I wish I knew sum fancy wurds
that made some kinda cents
I’d rite them real nice like
and I’d tack ‘em on a fence

I wish I had but half a brain
so’s I could make some rhymes
I wish they’d smell like sweet parfume,
instead of rotten limes

I wish that I could show you how
the rain falls offa duck
I wish that we could fool aroun’
in back of Billy’s truck!

I wish that I could catch for yoo
a nice green speckled trout
I’d cleen out all the guts real nice
cause that’s what I’m about

I wish that I could play a tune
on Lester’s new banjoe
I’d sing a real purdy song
and we’d give it a go!

I wish that I could take yoo to
an outdoor country danss
You know how much I’d be obliged
to start us sum romance

I wish the moon was full one nite
so I could tell yoo this
That I am rather smitten so’s
a how abouta kiss?

I wish the wind began to blowe
so you got really cold
I’d let you wear my buckskin hat
although its kinda old

I wish an alligator would
jump out from this heer swamp
I’d rassle him and make some shoes
so you could reelly stomp!

I wish an old coyote would
begin to howl away
I’d chase’em with a big ole stick
then we’d be on our way

I wish that you would marry me
and bee my newly bride
I swear that I’ll be true to yoo
I hardlys ever lied

I’ wish that I could offer you
a shack with indoor plumbin’
But if we play our cards right
all them’s luxsuries forthcomin’

All I know is that I hope
that all your dreems come troo
