my car is waiting
belly full of gas
top down
humming
the weather isnt really that great
but I plan on putting some distance
between it
and myself
I hope to never look back
on any of it
not on the friends
who will eventually wonder
what happened to me
not on my parents
who rest in the earth
and on the wind
certainly not on the women
nowhere to be found
when really needed
not even on this sacred place
the only sanctuary
I could ever afford

it is time for a new beginning
without the clutter
that has fogged my spectacles
at all the most inopportune moments
Interstate 10 east
is looking pretty good
I know if I follow it
far enough
and make a right
there is a place
romanticized and courted
for a good many seasons
where I might start again
anonymous among
the carnival masks
and tourist dollars
the jazz
and stinking brew
some quiet street
where I will sit on my door stoop
crisp beer in hand
to beat the inferno
and smile upon the victories
I racked up
even if Im the only one
who is aware of what they are

New Orleans is the only place outside of Venice, Ca that i would ever live in these united states of ours...after that its Phneom Pehn, Cambodia or Cuba if they'll have this norte americano gordo...
