Through the Keyhole, Under the Door

Picture yourself in the dark.
In a closet
Somewhere far away.
You reach for someone's hand
Enveloped in shades of gray.
In time the darkness turns to color
Because the mind can fool the eyes
And every noise will echo
Echo softly
Those fears you try to hide.

Demons devils
Angels and the like
And all those spirits that rape the night.
The moon
dripping sorrow through the window until dawn,
Brings the killers voice until his night is gone.

Footprints throught the door?
A keyhole-
But nothing more.
Simple
Soft and pleasant sound.
In this click-and-pull safety I have found.
I turn away but still look ahead
And find my reasoning instead.
Clasp the handle in my palm
And savor misty
Noisy calm.

Voices?
I hear none.
The door hinge screams across the empty room
It says I should have run
Quiet gaze and sifted light
My soul remains out of sight
But then fate
Fate gives me an ugly turn
It's in my doom,
My silence burns.

This house on poisoned stream
Where I am prisoned
And murdered in my dreams.
And the children say no pleasant names
Where grandma's house went up in flames
No sung light shines on broken days
Where closet sifted light remains.

Thanks, any feed back is always appreciated.  This poem is about hiding.  It's what happens when all those secret hiding places are exploited.  What happens when, one day, you can't escape from whatever it is you're running from?  What do you do when you're backed into a corner?
