Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-05-20 09:53 AM

Quietly Heard

the coming home part of my day
is strictly personal
the moment I bare
the raiment of
my outer soul
and divest the coverings
of strict
to don the
comfort of soft
and gather yielding
material to
warm the skin
and in so doing
a mental seeking to
comfort the inner me
as well

only then, after enough
nutrient to feed the
body,
I take favored pen
and stroke the feel
~balanced~
~smooth and sleek~
it fits my hand so
well and allows
me to feel
~ ~ graceful ~ ~
the first time of
the day that I
feel like a
scholarly lady

of course I do not
think as fast with
pen as I do
with keys clicking
but ponder more ~
it is most rewarding
because thoughts
of how others
would pen

the next line

comes to me
and I visit
with them momentarily
here in the softness
of my robed moment

and visit mentally
serving tea
or wine,
I might use crystal or plastic
but no one will mind,
and amid much laughter
of good times yet
to be shared
I may even
laugh out loud for a
brief moment

alone

at this picture in my
mind
for there are many of you
in my room
just now

the soft chattering of
all your poetic voices
cause me to relax,
become the
quiet soul
that I really am
because listening is
an art
and one that I
might be perfect in
and have perfected in
as I am still the shy duck
I've always been

so in the comfort
of my robe
here in thought
of all of you
whom have comforted
my inner me

I come and write
Thank You
yet again,
for giving me a
place to place
my silent voice

so that I may
always, quietly,
be heard

A brief thanks, again, first for allowing this repost.  I will soon be coming up on four years here, and in that time, a thanks, for all that Passions has given to me during that time...

Especially in the last three years, first by giving me the opportunity to assist as a Senior Moderator, a function that has been vastly enlightening; and then as an Administrator.  For having provided in kind, a form of payment in new and lasting friends, and what more could one ask?

To Ron, my humblest appreciation, for working so very hard to make Passions a Home for Poets, and Readers of Poets...no thank you is ever enough.  So please accept my continued attempts at poetry by which to pluck those heartstrings you allow everyone to share.

...alone...

Isn't that the way many poets feel? Emily Dickinson was a shy person who spent her time alone. I know that I have felt alone many times... Because we as poets want to reach out and touch a heart, but we either don't know how to do it, or are to shy to reach out, or we are just too "alone" to do it!

But I will continue to reach out - Shy as I am - and I am thankful for this place to share my poetry with other poets.

May blessings fall upon each person here.

Yes, oh, yes, I have felt this too! Maybe we poets have some kind of "connection" to one another. This is lovely Karilea. Your poetry brings such welcomed warmth. hugs, Chris

Karilea, that was beautiful! It brought such a calm and peaceful feeling, reading about you coming home and getting into your comfort zone. I feel on one hand, that I have missed so much not being here from the start. But, I’m just glad I was lucky enough to find it recently. One, because like you so nicely put, it is a place where your “songs of your heart” can be heard. But, even more so, which I think you also put real well. Is the general feel of this place. So many wonderful people, all helping to inspire, and appreciate, something we all enjoy doing.

Thanks Karilea, for all the light and warmth you have provided for so many...

Your name, Sunshine, truly becomes you...

Sincerely,

Richy

Sunshine, tears literally misted in my eyes as I read your graceful writing....there I now saved it in case I forgot to!...

Reading your poetry has always filled me with a sense of awe. I truly felt I was with you as you were writing this poem which has so much meaning for me--and most assuredly for every other reader as well.

P.S. You need not ever appologize for reposting a poem. It gives those of us who haven't had the opportunity of reading it, a chance to do so--and for those who may have previously read it, it allows for a doubling of their pleasure!

Morning hugs,
Linda

And I see you there, Karilea...in elegance and splendor with parchment on which your pen lay ink of revelations and quiet pasts which escape most poets' minds, but you are there and then here to willingly share your heart with us so that we may be inspired by your thoughts.

A great debt I owe to you.  From the first time I posted my verse, you welcomed me into your circle of friends.  Had you not, I may still be seeking peace and refuge from the world.  Now I know where my peace lies; it lies within me.  With pen in hand, I find the comfort my world does not seem to offer.

Thank you, elegant friend,
-Patricia
