in the shadows

When boo that held the horse's reins
forfeited the rider's gains
the cure was sickness of the self
and silver monkeys killed the elf.

Crystal dinners cooking shares,
one night stands through broken stares,
drifting sparkle juiced nightmares,
icy grains spark through her veins
as desert sands
of time go slipping
through her shaking hands;
endless counting always
searching watching glitter angels
dancing on a bitter pin
staring counting ‘til she's blind
digging, clawing spiders from her skin,
screaming for the needle laughing at her
childhood's half managed thoughts of sin,
spinning devils racing tracks
across the shadows of her mind
to fill in memory's footprints
as travelers are lost in time.

Conquered fears,
short time tricks,
each treasured quest,
blood mixed with tears,
emptiness hard fought to get
just another working night
surviving to forget,
just a link to test the shame
of endless chains in parking lots
and pulling trains.

This trip...a difficult ascend...
As the addiction takes the traveler to ghostly heights never ventured intentionally.
Have watched this train pull away some loving friends. Well done. TD

it's always a relief to see someone walk away from that train wreck

ThisDiamond ~ It is hard to watch them go and know nothing can be done.  Thank you for your comments.

Midnitesun ~ Yes, so few stop though.  Meth addiction is, in my humble opinion, the most difficult to fight.  In part because the user most often does not live long enough to work it through.  Also, that addiction is not connected to the human need for ecstasy (the state of mind not the drug "X" ).  What drives them is different; even when the user has taken a full dose, there is no real satiation.  It is truly a pharmaceutical obscenity.  Thank you for your time in reading this and for your comment.
