“DOWN IN THE BAYOU”
by
Bill Charles
~~~~
Down in the bayou one summer night,
I happened to chance upon one soul,
watched, as she danced under the moon,
it was my aching heart that she stole…
She sang in the swamp in grasses tall,
chanted with voice of an eerie sound,
yet I heard words from deep within,
seems once, her heart had drowned…
I didn’t know how she knew I was there,
came and held me, she was soft just then,
brought her close, and she melted through,
whispered to me she could once again…
Down in the bayou one summer night,
I happened to chance upon one soul,
watched, as she danced under the moon,
it was my aching heart that she stole…
Bill:
mystic and passionate . . .
the midnight moon has many secrets . . .
this is eerie in its sweetness
I love it
you are shining Bill . . .
even when your heart has been stolen
Hey Bill you got your lyrical nature going in this piece.   NIce scene and a little mystic which is intriguing too.
Good job!
(big hugggssssssss) Through the mysterious serpentine cuts, we can never see it seems and ever wonder what exactly seems to steal from us! (sigh) This is very heartfelt and eerie, sweet friend, hope all is well, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Bill, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Yanno Bill, for someone with no heart, you sure wouldn't know it.
Love this melancholy piece.
Bill...I love the surreal atmosphere, tone, of this poem. Your imagery is very beautiful and enhances the whole tone of the poem. You always write such romantic poems. ***Ivy Rose
Hello Bill
A beautiful song played out in my head as I read your lovely words.  Your words always sweep me off my feet and bring a smile.
Take care......Sue
