There’s much that I survive on, but mainly food of thought
Or else my world would empty with an outcome measured naught
My love and inner passion, my torments and each mood
Revives my very essence and expires time to brood

Thoughts on every issue, feelings weak or strong
Giving guidance of unknown to places they belong
Fed by other voices; by the day and each event
A proliferate of excess, of which is never spent

Fed by passion’s guidance, by the joy of thought that speaks
Fulfilling inner wanting and the craving that it seeks
To let us share the harvest that our food of thought does reap
In word of conversation and in sanity to keep

We are here for good reason, in spirit and in thought.  Wonderfully expressed Rick, and such an uplifting poem to read this morning.  Thanks~

Particularly liked the rhythm of your piece Rick, it read very nicely. I enjoy poems that rhyme and your choice of words never looked forced, as some do to the expense of the sentiments expressed.

Well said, and well conceived...

Glad to see that you gave nearly equal weight to thought and emotion -- not doing so is a mistake I made for most of my life, to my detriment as a person and as a writer. Meeting and reading the folks here at Passions is what made the difference, I freely admit. Before that I was literally more likely to write about cement than love.

Hi Rick
Found this more difficult to read than your usual....the flow?? was different. This isn't a bad thing...far from it....just felt "different"
Respectfully yours Lynda

Well, whose inner self were you examining here? LOL Sounds to me like you got inside my soul and empty its contents on your page. On a serious note: So many think thought...I mean real contemplation is frivolous.  I don't understand why someone would hold emotions and thoughts in bondage.  I certainly glad you don't!  The we would not be the recipient of lovely verses to ponder.

Hi Lynda, this poem was not one that I chose to write, it was the topic of my writers group. The topic was food, so "Food for thought" was born, maybe a little forced and rushed, I much rather words from the heart.
Thanks for your reply Lynda, much appreciated as always, ""don't be a stranger"".

Patricia, thank you for this, to write our thoughts on paper is such a relief and outlet, other people take different avenues I guess, but this is mine and I feel yours as well, great to see you here again, your comments were heart felt and appreciated.

To you both, again thank you very much.

Sincerely
Rick

Hello Rick

So often when I read your words it's like you're reading my mind.  I am always inspired by the words you weave through your talented pen.

Take care......Sue

Once again dear Sue, thank you; our minds are all so full of thought, our challenge is to translate it and share it with poeple like yourself, may I please inspire you for a long time to come.
Take care.

Sincerely
Rick
